I am a 53-year-old married father of two. Originally from Lancashire, I now live in Wiltshire with my wife, children and our Cockerpoo. I am a History graduate, a Retired Solicitor and a Lifetime Fellow of The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust. I enjoy walking the Jurassic Coast as well as hill and fellwalking. I also enjoy learning to play the piano.
I have lived experience of parental suicide as my father took his life when I was 13 years old. I was severely affected by this dreadfully upsetting experience and by the lack of understanding and support available to me at that time. Dad’s suicide made me feel different from other people and, until I discovered Luna Foundation and Anna’s work, had never encountered anyone with a similar lived experience to share my story with.
The team at Luna Foundation definitely have a lot of work to do to increase awareness about parental suicide and improve the support that is provided for children and young people.
